My Approach
I see each client as a unique individual. I find that Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and a Strengths-based approach lend themselves to my clients feeling hope and experiencing growth. I am also a licensed school counselor and understand the stressors and challenges of being a young person today.
My Journey To Mental Health Care
I have always had a heart to help people and help them go through their pain, not around it. I believe that it's not the pain that will kill us, it's the pain avoidance that will. As humans, we naturally want to avoid pain. I have wanted to be a counselor since middle school. My journey through life as a teen, young adult, mom, and wife has provided me with tremendous experience. God has given me so much empathy for young people and parents!
My Focus
I find that my style and approach are a good fit for teens, young adults, and parents. I am also trained in Christian counseling and offer a faith-based approach upon request. My goal is for each client to feel valued and autonomous in addition to gaining skills and beliefs. My clients end therapy feeling more empowered and confident than before.
My Goals For You
Goals are an important part of the therapeutic process. After connecting with my clients, I listen to what they want to receive from therapy. I work with my clients to set two to three goals at a time I write a treatment plan that we agree on in order to do our work together. I often assign "practice" skills in order to achieve the client's goal.
My Communication Style
I am warm, non-judgmental, and easy to talk to. Therapy is most effective when a client feels they can be 100 percent honest with me. My clients tell me they always feel better after talking with me.
My First Session With You
During our first session, I want you to feel comfortable. I also focus on getting to know you. I listen to what your journey has been like. I always feel honored to have a client share their story with me!
